  1. Please keep Hotspot information visible until after a fire event is fully resolved.

Knowing what has already been burned is vital for understanding both areas still at risk, and knowing where (safer) access and escape routes are.

  2. The scolling and zooming does not work well on Android mobile devices

the lagging is such that the program frequently overshoots and zooms out to cover the whole world or zooms into an area away from the intended target. This is very frustrating and needs to be sorted. The problem affects all versions and slow connections (such as away from metro) make it worse.

  3. Get Access to Himiwari 8 Data

Hey, Great product you have and love your work. Any word on when Himiwari 8 data will be available and if it will be available though your service. A lot of people in my work place (National Parks) are keen on the idea of real time 10 minute updates that seem to be getting promised in media reports but I'm guessing data transfer, correction and processing will still take a couple of hours? Any crumbs you could throw to the hungry wolves would be appreciated.

  4. page designed for mobiles or tablets

I have only just found Fire Watch,
I have been looking for an "app" that gives as close as possible to real time updates, with actual locations. ...not regions or districts. Fire Watch seems to tick the boxes.

But out on the property I don't have access to a full sized computer.
A tablet or mobile phone is the usual way to make a quick check....I understand that you can't fit as much info on a small screen & contro's get fiddly.
But something that shows fire location at a glance - perhaps with options that are set up on…

  10. Use greyscale base image for vegetation history map product

Great idea. But draping a transparent colour thematic map over a colour air photo is hard to interpret for some areas (i.e. forest), especially if you are looking for the 'green' colour coding over the green national park forest (e.g. Boranup). How about using greyscale for the air phot instead?

I am having issues exporting the yearly NOAA Burnt Area data to Google Earth as a KML file. Can this be rectified?

  12. Program doesn't auto update

On my android device the map does not auto update after a period of time. If you look at the page after a break it says "logging you back in" but doesn't update the page. In my opinion this is a serious flaw.
Otherwise this is a great resorce.

  13. NOAA imagery geo-referencing problem

NOAA Imagery seems to be incorrectly geo-referenced today (12 Jan 2015), in relation to the standard base map. When attempting to plot NOAA image 03:40 N15 from Crib Point (86656), Port Phillip Bay (near Melbourne) appears in southern NSW, i.e the image is several hundred km too far north. Both band 3 and band 5 have this problem. MODIS Imagery looks fine, and yesterday's NOAA files look OK, just seems to be a problem for today's NOAA images.

  14. Access to SLIP public

Loading SLIP public maps and imagery asks for a password. As I apparently don't have one for this server cancelling out of this goes into a near continuous loop

  18. The "PRINT" functionn does not appear to be functioning

This may be related to a DPAW access issue or an updtae but have had no luck for about 4 months.
The system is great otherwise and very useful for our fire management purposes in the past

  19. Check vegetation extent layers...they are incorrect!

    Hi Guys,

Great work on the new GUI but it seems the vegetation extent layers aren't linked to the correct datasets. 2013 looks like 1990 and 2012 doesn't display at all (where I was looking in metro area anyway). 2010 and the rest all look the same too which all do not match the vegetation change maps or the Google Earth base map.

    Please check and update!

Also I'm not sure whether the download button is suppose to work for these veg extent and change layers but it throws an error and doesn't work.

    Cheers,

    Andrew
